Urgent (ish): does anyone know what this red light means? Nobody has ever seen it be red before it’s usually green but we don’t even know what it’s trying to tell us about. Chef/owner is out of town. We lost AC, Hoping this doesn’t mean anything worse

    My best guess is co2 detector. We had those in school where it would beep if the concentration of co2 got high at any point, signaling that a window should be opened and the air let to circulate for a bit.

    Not sure if this is it tho as it looked completely different.

    Looks like some type of circuit interrupter. Try the reset button and check the circuit breaker.

    If you can get a clearer pic of just the device you can Google it to see what it is and how it works.

    A duct detector attached to the buildings fire alarm system likely tripped. You will probably need a service call from the fire alarm contractor to check it out.

    It’s a remote reset switch for the duct smoke detector on the air handler. DSDs or Duct Smoke Detectors fucking suck because they are glitchy as fuck, and prone to false alarms especially from anything particulate like dust or flour in the air.

    Looks like an old in duct smoke alarm indicator. If your restaurant is not burning down, there should be a button on the thing to reset it

    Kitchen will self detonate at the end of the dinner rush. Plan an evacuation. Or don’t.

    Press reset and see what happens. If it stays green, no worries. If it trips again, start calling people

    For $69 I usually throw in an idea like having a chimpanzee bouncing hotel pans about while some random guy throws a soup tureen at the deep fryer. For $225 it can be a real disaster movie.
    For $8000 ICE shows up and your restaurant gets national advertising through media exposure and . . .

    Best is just to keep a supply of toothpicks handy for reset buttons.
